MQM does not believe in dynastic politics – Altaf Hussain

Chief of Mutahida Qoumi Movement (MQM), Altaf Hussain has expressed that his party is spread till the grass-root level and unlike most of the political parties of the country, MQM does not believe in dynastic politics.

This is a bitter fact about the domestic politics of Pakistan that most of the politicians scream about democracy all the time but they do not even have true democracies in their own parties. It is extremely ironic that the President of Pakistan, Asif Ali
Zardari became the Co-Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) through a will.

On the other hand, the other major political force of the country, Pakistan Muslim League (N) has also consolidated all the powers within the Sharif Family.

However, there are some political parties who do not believe in dynastic politics like Jamaat e Islami, MQM and Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf.

Altaf, who is going through a self-exile since early 1990s because of serious threat to his life, expressed that some of the political parties claim to bring revolution in the country but they just chant about it, on the other hand, MQM is practically working
for the betterment of the masses in Karachi and some parts of Sindh.

MQM Chief said, “The MQM did not make only claims about the revolution. It is making practical efforts for the revolution of the poor and middle classes in Pakistan.”

Although, MQM has a massive vote-bank in some parts of Sindh but there are serious allegations against the party for the use of weapons and force. Some of the analysts believe that MQM is involved in target-killing in Karachi and it should be held responsible
for the ever-deteriorating law and order situation of the biggest and most important city of the country.

Recently, on the petition of Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf, Imran Khan, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has given the right of vote to the overseas Pakistanis as well. Altaf believes that this decision is going to benefit MQM as it possesses a huge
vote-bank outside Pakistan as well.

“Giving the overseas Pakistanis a right to vote is an important development,” Altaf added.
