Arsenal star midfielder, Mikel Arteta, is eager to return at the Goodison Park, his former club – Everton’s home ground.
Arteta can’t wait to visit his old side at the Goodison Park where he stayed for six and half years before joining the Red Army in August this season. He will confront the Toffeees for the first time in a different colour.
The 29-year-old loves his old club a lot and is looking forward to see how he will be received the Everton fans. Walking out in a red shirt, the Spaniard is hoping that his former side’s fans will show him mutual respect.
“Visiting Everton next week will be really special for me,” Arteta was quoted in an interview to Arsenal.com. “It’s going to be weird to sit in the other changing room, warming up in the opposite half of the pitch and having the crowd against us. I just
want to enjoy it. I really can’t wait to go there, and I hope I’ll get a good reception because I gave Everton everything I had in my time there and I love the club. Everyone there was great to me and, even though I left, hopefully people understood. There’s
no reason for any of us to be unhappy with each other.”
The Gunners are currently in great run of form, having won the previous six matches in a row at the Barclays English Premier League. In addition to this, Arsenal crushed the Italian Champions, AC Milan in their second leg at the Emirates Stadium. Despite
exiting from the UEFA Champions League and crashing out from all other tournaments, Arsenal is in great run of form.
Arsenal won their last match against the Toons with a stoppage time strike by Thomas Vermaelen at their home ground. They are looking forward to tumble over the Toffees in a convincing way and to take over their local rivals, Tottenham Hotspurs, at the Premier
League rankings.
