Misbah-ul-Haq responds to ‘haters’ via Twitter – Part 2: Tweets
Friday, March 16th, 2012 11:00:25 by Musa AfridiAfter taking a look at a number of events that have given the Pakistani skipper the reputation he has earned for himself, it is now time to take a look at his Tweets.
This is a continuation of the first article.
Pakistan’s whitewash of England in the Test Series was a historic moment in the nation’s history and one could really tell that the Test format is where Misbah belongs. However, after suffering a whitewash at the hands of England in the ODI series and throwing
away the T20 series, serious doubts were raised about whether or not Misbah’s temperament was ill-suited to the latter formats of the game.
Misbah showed a more aggressive side to his game in the Asia Cup encounter against Sri Lanka as he scored 72 runs off 93 deliveries to steer his side to victory.
Whilst the batsman was both gracious and humble during the post match prize distribution ceremony, he seemed to explode when he signed in to, the social networking site, Twitter.
“U say I no play atractv crkt. I give u performance. Now leeve me lone.”
Instead of getting the result he wanted, it seemed the haters and the trollers came out in force and the Pakistan captain with insults and japes.
One tweet pointed out that everyone was more interested in Umar Akmal’s innings while others claimed to have bet on which would reach 100 first, Sachin Tendulkar or Misbah’s strike rate.
Former Pakistani cricket, Ramiz Raja, also took the opportunity to get his point of view across. He tweeted: “I don’t remember the match much after you hit the six. Doctors tell me I was yelling the world was going to end before i passed out.”
The Pakistani skipper also hit nine boundaries on the night in an uncharacteristic performance. Misbah tweeted, “i hopes i ntertrain the fans and makes them 4get about Afridi.”
Shahid Afridi did not get a chance to bat, much to the disappointment of all those watching.
