Karachi: (Friday, March 16, 2012) Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), referring to the government’s failure in ending extortions in Sindh, Particularly Karachi, has announced that it will boycott President Asif Ali Zardari’s address
to the joint session of Parliament on Saturday.
Expressing their support to the traders in Karachi who, faced with increasing extortions, are left with no other option but to seek and pursue investment opportunities outside Pakistan, MQM’s MNAs protested today in the National
Assembly.
Recording the protest, Waseem Akhtar, one of the prominent MQM leaders said that if measures against extortions are not taken then they would not allow President Zardari’s address to take place.
Haider Abbas Rizvi, another MNA MQM said that only President Zardari could stop the extortions in Karachi.
In connection with today’s protests, the MQM’s members provincial assembly in Sindh also expressed their support for the traders and announced that they will observe a black day in the city on Saturday.
