Zavisa laments the football infrastructure in Pakistan
Tuesday, March 20th, 2012 1:08:58 by Shahrukh SohailPakistan coach Zavisa Milosavljevic claims that although there are facilities present in the country, there is no one there to maintain them and it is a major reason why the game doesn’t develop here.
The tactician, who took charge from the below-par Tariq Lutfi last November, has launched another appeal to the PFF to update the infrastructure in the country so that football can flourish in the region.
“I am not comparing Pakistan with any European country, but at least they will have to improve their standard in the South Asian region where other countries are progressing with high pace,” the Serbian said.
“It’s not in good shape. Can we compare it with the pitches of Iran? Pakistan has the facilities but I think there is no one who could maintain them. If you don’t have any proper football ground, how you would be able to prepare your national team.”
He also added that the fields he had seen here should be properly maintained but despite the system being available for doing, it was being done.
“The pitches should be soft and even. I saw a couple of pitches here which are too hard and uneven and not suitable to play on. There is every facility, including watering system, at the Punjab Stadium but there is no one to water the ground and maintain
other things. The playing facilities should be properly maintained.’
He also commented on the PFF’s decision to field their U-16 and U-19 team in the National Challenge Cup and revealed that he would be scouting players of Pakistani origin from abroad in order to make a strong unit for the Green-Shirts.
“The Under-19 team is too good. But Under-16 team should not have been put in the domestic even.”
“Apart from England and Denmark, Norway has also some players of Pakistani origin. In France, too, certain players have shown their willingness to play for Pakistan and some of them also want to come here with the documents next month,” Zavisa was quoted
as saying.
