New Apple TV (2012): Full Review – A bump to 1080p resolution support – Part 1
Tuesday, March 20th, 2012 8:03:34 by Usman KhalidApple, Inc.’s 2012 model of the Apple TV is out for the same $99. As it goes with new models and especially in the case of Apple, there are always new features in the latest releases. However, to some length, the new Apple TV becomes the exception to general moto of new devices, and of course especially in case of Apple.
The new device holds the same looks of 2011 Apple TV and is about the same size with the same ports, and the same remote controls. There are more features that are same but mentioning them all in a single go would ruin your interest. All the features will be detailed in the latter part of the article.
Around back are just a handful of connections, including HDMI, optical audio output, Micro-USB (for service only), and Ethernet. There are also 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth built-in for connecting to your home wireless network. However, HDMI is the only video connection available, so if you have an older TV, you’re out of luck. It would not kill Apple to add A/V connections to the device and USB 3.0 to Macbook line.
Despite the same old look and physique, the 2012 model has some new features but that credit goes to the software department, not the hardware.
The new interface, some say it is the baby brother of iOS that comes in the likes of iPad and iPhone, has gotten a complete makeover at the dens of Cupertino headquarters. The video support has got a bump to 1080p but more to come on this particular aspect later.
