Bangladesh on the verge of historic triumph

Apparently the Bangladesh’s passage to the Asia Cup final is quite monotonous. The Bengali Tigers had played 29 games in the nine previous Asia Cup editions, out of which they won only two against United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Hong Kong.

However, they lost only a game against Pakistan in the ongoing edition while defeating finalists of 2011 World Cup Sri Lanka and India.

This is like finding a fertile delta in a desert for Bengali cricket fans. They are craved of victory but never lacking in passion.

Every Bengali wearing darker shade of green will be cheering every run Bangladesh score and every Pakistani player that go back to pavilion. Although the host team is dreaming about victory, appearance in final is already a great achievement for the die-hard supporters.

The point of concern is that how will the Bengali Tigers will play the biggest encounter of their professional career.

Although they blanked Kiwi team at home some time back, it is the first time Bangladesh has put together systematically rock-solid performance for three games running against world champions.

Will they be succeeded in the fourth match too? Will Bangladesh stick out the pressure of final, what they hardly experienced in the cricketing history? Will Bengali batsmen restrict the freedom with which they bat and bowl?

Whoever be the winner in the finals, the host team’s surge to the title-match holds the promise of another closer encounter. After fighting hard, they will still be heroes if they go down.

The players wearing darker greenish uniform will become part of folklore in the years to come, if they win the final.

A bit of history, either way, has already been created. Pakistan will not mind running into Bangladesh after the fervor of an India-Pak final.

Pakistan relied on their bowlers for getting them to the final, as they often do. Only one time, their batting appeared to have almost won a game for the Green-shirts, they ran into Virat Kohli.

Pakistan’s performance is not up to the mark in the Asia Cup, as it triumphed only once against four titles each won by Sri Lanka and India. The Green-shirts have a chance to double the tally if they are succeeded to overcome vibrant Bengalis.

Bangladesh will only be second squad after Australia to beat India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan in a single tournament, if they win the historic Asia Cup.
