Amir Khan says he will win Lamont Peterson by knockout
Wednesday, March 21st, 2012 1:10:28 by Imran Shaukat KhanFormer WBA (Super) & IBF Light Welterweight Champion, Amir Khan, has claimed that he will win the current title holder, Lamont Peterson, by the way of a knockout this time.
Khan told esnewsreporting.com “I don’t want to just go in there and win on points or numbers. This fight will not be close. I will win clearly. If not clearly, I’ll win by knockout.”
Khan lost his titles to Peterson on December 10 last year in Washington D.C. It was a much-anticipated fight but unfortunately it ended up in a storm of controversy as a result to which World Boxing Council (WBC) ordered an immediate rematch between the two, which will now take place on May 19, 2012 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The 25-year-old Bolton’s finest, more commonly known as King Khan, also had an interview with Luis Sandoval of the Boxingscene.com, in which the Brit insisted that he was not at his best when he fought Peterson but still he won him.
“I was maybe making a few mistakes in there. I believe I still won the fight but I believe I wasn’t even in my 100%. I mean if you look at the last fight with Judah, fights like Maidana, you see me at a totally different class. But this fight against Lamont, I mean I was in shape but I wasn’t in the best shape,” Khan told boxingscene.com.
He concluded, “So this next fight there’s going to be no doubt that I’m going to be in the best shape, in the best condition and it’s just brought the hunger in my body again.”
Khan, who holds a record of winning 26 of his 28 professional fights, with 18 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, had plans to move up to 147 pounds division but Peterson destroyed his dreams of having a big fight with the undefeated American legend Floyd Mayweather junior. Therefore, it is fair to say that Khan will give his best shot this time, as otherwise his image will get damaged badly.
