Wonders of World: Taj Mahal in Agra, India

The word ‘Taj Mahal’ means ‘Crown Palace’ and is certainly one of the most well structured and architecturally beautiful tombs in the world which has been preserved impressively so far.
Taj mahal was built by the Muslim Mughal king Shah Jahan in the memory of his lover and wife, Mumtaz, who died while giving birth to his 14th child. Taj mahal is the building made of white and red marble. Building the Taj Mahal was one of the four promises that he made to Mumtaz before she died.
The construction of Taj Mahal started in 1631 to be completed in 22 years. The construction was done by 20,000 people who were deployed in Agra for the purpose. The building material for Taj Mahal’s construction was brought from all over India and central Asia on a fleet of 1000 elephants used for transportation.
The grave of queen Mumtaz houses at the lower chamber of the tomb. The grave of King Shah Jahan was added to this building later. The Taj is a famous building and one of the most beautiful Mughal arts.
Approximately 32 million rupees were spent on this building. Taj Mahal stands square platform with four corners abridged. This building formed an unequal octagon. Taj mahal was designed by the Iranian architect, Ustad Isa.
This building was cherished because of its design and its beautification. Taj Mahal is widely recognised as “symbol of eternal love”. This mughal art is a proof of great Islamic architecture.
