However, there is one performance aspect of note: when running on battery, even on “high-performance” settings, benchmark results dipped. Street Fighter IV dropped to 30.5 frames per second at 1,366×768 with the same graphics settings on battery power; when outputting to a 1080p monitor via HDMI, the frame rate dropped to 20.8 fps.

The laptop tested belonged to the higher-end of the line. It has a 1.7 GHz second-generation Intel Core i7-2637M, 4GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD, and Nvidia GeForce GT 640M graphics. However, with the specs this high, the price takes a hike as well. The aforementioned model was imported from the Europe and cost 1299 Euros. The base model that costs 599 Euros has a Core i3 processor. The low price taxes the performance of the device.

When it comes to the ports, I think Acer was not thinking straight. Perhaps, the man who designed the ports-section was in a hurry for lunch and nestled every socket in the back of the casing. Except for the DVD drive and an SD card slot, all other ports are at the back. This does not only look absurd but also give the device an old look, which is not good for a notebook in the contemporary market, much less an ultrabook.

Everything from HDMI to fan to USB 3.0 ports are in the back. Even the audio input/output resides there. It would have made a lot of sense if only the power socket and Ethernet port were at the back. However, the design has its flaws; there is no doubt about it.
