Training is crucial for any sport and Chinese players train more than 7 hours a day. That includes both training on the table and other physical exercises. There are two training sessions, Morning and Afternoon. Players get 12 days off per year and also rest days after major tournaments.
Chinese players also receive mental trainings and have at least one training session weekly with sport psychologists. Mental strength is important as one need to be really strong mentally to handle the pressure at any international event. Players are trained to hold on to their nerves and perform under any pressure conditions. Sessions with sports psychiatrist is a common practice in other countries as well.
Hunt for the Table tennis Champion in China begins at a very early age. Children as young as 5 are tested and those who perform well in the tests are trained and polished further to represent China for international events.
One thing that China can work on is their rallying techniques, as European players have developed this technique far better than China. Europeans spent most time training their rallying techniques and always gives a tough time to the Chinese every time a rally is set up.
China no doubt is a Leader in the sport of Table Tennis and it is quite a task to challenge their technique and skills. All it will take is a combination of strengths matching the Chinese strength while developing some new skills to surprise the opponents.
