Apple Rumours: Next Gen iPhone caught in the snare – Part 1
Monday, March 26th, 2012 4:59:37 by Usman KhalidWith the release of the new iPad 2012, the rumour mill was expected to take a leave from work for some time but in less than two weeks it has found a new job. Remember the iPhone 5 rumours that haunted the iPhone fanatics until Tim Cook pulled the curtains of the iPhone 4S in October. Those tell tales are back, and this time there are more rumour associated with Apple’s signature smartphone.
The first and the obvious one is the inclusion of the 4G LTE services. Gone are the days when Apple used to defend the 3G network. The new iPad 2012 gives us the strong hint that the new iPhone this year will have the same technology.
The flagship device offers HSPA+, so-called 4G, network services, since International Technology Union gave such technology a green signal to rename itself as 4G. Though it only has a marginal difference than the 3G network, and even that is on the paper, it undoubtedly has a benefit over the 3G network and since the upgrade to iOS 5.1, the initials 4G have stimulated the sales of the device.
However, new iPhone, presumably iPhone 5—as the company might not name the 2012 model as iPhone 4SS—will have the latest and greatest 4G networking.
The latest comes from iMore, which today posts some chewy, though anonymously-sourced hardware details about Apple’s next smartphone. Those include a move to a 4G LTE radio like the one the third-generation iPad ships with, a display that’s “similar if not same sized” to Apple’s long-time 3.5-inch spec, and the move to a smaller dock port for charging and data transfers.
