Islamabad: (Tuesday, March 27, 2012) Condemning the government’s inability to restore peace in Karachi – the economic hub of Pakistan, MQM Deputy Parliamentary leader Haider Abbas Rizvi said today that there could be no strong
foreign policy in absence of a firm interior policy.
Rizvi said this when he was talking to the reporters after MQM boycotted the session and staged a sit-in outside the Parliament House over the killing of their sector member in Karachi today.
Blaming Ahmed Ali for the incident, Rizvi alleged that he was a criminal against whom 17 FIRs had already been registered.
Karachi is once again in grip of tensions as MQM’s activist Mansoor Mukhtar was shot dead in PIB colony while his brother Masood Mukhtar also succumbed to the injuries later on.
Recording their protest over the incident, the MQM activists set at least 35 vehicles, including a police van, on fire. In the chaos that ensued after the killings of Mukhtar brothers, three more people lost their lives.
Currently underway, the joint session of the parliament is scheduled to discuss the recommendations forwarded by the parliamentary committee to reset the country’s ties with the US.
The joint session was to kick off yesterday (Monday), however, amid the discussion on loadshedding crisis; the parliamentarians could not take up with the issue then.
