Faisalabad: (Tuesday, March 27, 2012) Despite strict notice by the President Asif Ali Zardari and a stern warning by PM Gilani to end loadshedding within 24-hours yesterday, the electricity remained out of reach for most of cities
of Punjab even today. The angry crowd at various cities, including the industrial hub of the province – Faisalabad, continued for second consecutive day.
Expressing their anger with the hollow claims made by the parliamentarians including those by the PM and president, the citizens burned tyresa and blocked the roads in protest.
Recording their protest against the government, the traders in Faisalabad had given call for a shutter down strike, which was responded well across the city. Nevertheless, despite these protests, the loadshedding expanded its span
for well over 16 hours.
Presently, rallies held by the protestors are culminating at District Council Chowk where industrialists and workers will stage a sit-in.
As the protests erupted in the city today, all the shops in main markets remained closed and roads vacant, while a heavy contingent of police has been deployed to thwart any untoward incident.
To express solidarity with rest of the traders in Faisalabad, patrol and CNG stations are also shut in the city.
