Tough Cars of the Year, 2012: The list is out and Toyota rocks the roster – Part 1
Tuesday, March 27th, 2012 5:55:03 by Usman KhalidEvery customer eyes two things in a car at the time of purchase; its safety and its luxury. Both of these factors have the either-, or- or both-nature when it comes to making a decision but the best bargain always boils down to the former one in the premise. Even if both factors are included, the safety factor always weighs more.
Every vehicle has the power to take the passenger from point A to point B, after all that is their foremost duty after the rubbers rolls on tarmac. However, the owner always fancies the minimum of hassle while travelling from A to B.
According to Steve Mazor of the Automobile Club of Southern California‘s Automotive Research Center (ARC), the performance of the vehicle is completely dependent on the personal care from the owner. “I’m not sure how much is the cost of the car itself and how much is the owner of the car, how they take care of the car, and the way they drive it,” says Mazor.
ARC has compiled a short list of the most common causes cited in towing incidents for his company from May 15, 2008 to November 15, 2010: Fuel pump; alternator; battery; starter; radiator; transmission; and hoses. Each cause might be avoided by the actions of a diligent owner who toughens up a car with preventative vehicle maintenance.
The durability of any car, regardless of the brand or quality gets prolonged by care from the owner, his/her driving style and the conditions in which it is driven; it is to state the obvious that off-roading or driving on uneven tarmac brings about the same damage to the care as rolling an egg on rocks.
