Third in a row! Toyota must be rock in its chair by now. The Japanese conglomerate has been one of the successful businesses in the world and one of the few to survive the 2008 crisis. And undoubtedly, its work shows what the company is capable of. The Highlander has been one of the most reliable vehicles over the last few years and 2012 has been no exception.

Despite being an SUV, a vehicle class that is known to eat on the fuel, the Highlander delivers top quality, best luxury and more reliability than the rest of the hoard. It is first SUV to enter the Tough Cars’ list.

Its 2.7-L I4 engine gives 187 hp to all four wheels with a massive 186 lb-ft of torque, or the 3.5-L V6 engine spreads 270 hp to all wheels with a whopping 248 lb-ft of torque. Even the price is not high for a sports utility vehicle, $28,240
