Film ”Korea” depicts the wins of North and South Korea in 1991 World Championships

‘’Korea’’ the movie is releasing next year and it is based on the true story of North Korean and South Korean table tennis teams. In 1953 Korea was divided into two parts, North Korea and South Korea and it was the sports of Table Tennis that brought encouragement and motivation for the Korean’s across the globe.

Movie surrounds the 1988 Olympic gold Medallist and the former Head Coach for South Korea Hyun Jung Hwa who has played an important role in making of the movie from writing scripts to coaching actors and teaching them the techniques of the sports.

“This has been a lot of work, but so much fun. I’m very happy to be able to tell this story to the world”

as Hyung Jung Hwa said. Her rivalry with Lee Bun Hee of North Korea is the main focus in the movie and both the main roles are played by the top and famous Korean actors Bae Doo and Ha Ji-Won as Lee Bun Hee is played by Bae Doo Na while Ha Ji-Won played Hyung Jung Hwa.

Kim ji Hye, who is the producer of the movie is happy with the movie as he has signed two biggest stars and believes that the film will create more interest amongst people about the sport of table tennis. He thinks that the experience of having the two top stars in the movie was amazing as both are very hard working actors and have trained hard. Both can now play table tennis pretty well and fans of the sport will not be disappointed.

Movie team really has to adjust with each other during the training camps in Chiba because of the difference in North Korea and South Korea’s culture but the team became one by concentrating in their common heritage as Hyun Jung Hwa said:

“It wasn’t South Korea and North Korea; it was just Korea as one, at least for a short time”

Unified Korea reaches the final but North Korean Government officials called the team to dissolve because of a breach in discipline.

North Korean team continues to compete despite the instructions from their government and won the final match as they defeat China in a close match.

Hyun Jung Hwa said that we all know about China’s dominance in the sport but just like the World Championships we played with our hearts and won the title. Korean’s already know about Hyun Jung Hwa and the World Championships in 1991 the main purpose of the movie is to entertain and educate other people about that and they will certainly enjoy it as Kim Ji Hye said.
