Eoin Morgan looking forward to IPL
Thursday, March 29th, 2012 1:14:09 by Rana Nasir GhafoorKolkata Knight Riders batsman Eoin Morgan has said that he always looks forward to improve his game by playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL), which he feels is an important part of the international cricket.
"IPL is a part of cricket I always look forward to. The crowd, passion here is an inspiration and urges all of us to strive for more. I always look to learn a lesson from IPL and have fared better in competitions after this particular T20 event. Overall,
it’s a crucial part of the season as far as I’m concerned," Morgan said.
Morgan, who is not in the English squad for the ongoing Sri Lanka tour, is currently in India. With the fifth edition of the Twenty20 about to begin, Morgan has started his practice in the KKR camp, the side which performed decently in the last season.
Morgan was a crucial member of the side, but he failed to put up a fine effort during the entire tournament last year. Representing Shahrukh-owned franchise, the classy left-hander played in 12 matches, scoring only 137 runs at an average a little above
15.
The T20 version of the sport is entirely different from Test cricket, however, Mogran has a different take on this. Responding to the question that how difficult it is for a batsman to change his game for the shortest version of the game, he stated, "No
matter what the format is, things do remain simple to a considerable degree. Even the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Jacques Kallis don’t need to change their style of play."
On Eden Garden pitch, the left-hander shared, "It has some similarities with the one at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Now we had certainly played skilfully during most matches here last time and would like to continue that with some sort of a plan.
At the same time though, you got to admit that the pitch will not always work in your favour."
The 25-year-old has a wonderful Twenty20 record. So far in his career, he has taken part in 83 T20 games, piling up 1665 runs at an excellent strike rate of almost 130.
