Jaguar releases its new muscle car: Jaguar XKR-S Version – 2012 – Part 1

Jaguar introduced the 2012 model of its muscle car XKR-S in March, 2012. The technologically advanced and theoretically equivalent to Ford’s Mustang 2011/12 model, the vehicle has received a makeover on the outside and in the inside.

Under the hood lies a powerful engine that fires the power equally to all wheels. But more on that in the latter part of the post. The car is akin to Mustang in so many ways but the actual drive behind the wheel is a different story. The XKR-S offers more than what is given on the paper. The gadgets onboard area also nicely installed. The Bowers & Wilkins audio system offers balanced sound and nearly unflappable power.

Though the new model is a beauty but for some reason unknown, this new automobile has overlooked some of the technological details that should have been a part of the new device. The infotainment system seems grossly outdated, featuring odd organization and slow screen transitions. Lack of Bluetooth streaming and an analog audio connection locks non-iPhone users out of listening to digital audio on their smartphones.

It’s a modern muscle car, one of the few vehicles that pulls off the whole “retro-styling” trend without looking goofy. It’s powered by a supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 engine that outputs 550 horsepower and around 500 pound-feet of torque. It’s a large rear-wheel-drive coupe that seats two comfortably with a pair of rear seats that are better suited for holding small parcels than small people. It’s got big 20-inch wheels, a sport-tuned suspension, and looks stunning in black. Oh, and it costs a smidge over $130,000! On paper, the 2012 Jaguar XKR-S coupe looks a lot like the world’s most expensive Mustang Shelby GT500, but from the driver’s seat, it’s so much more. The Jaguar will hit 60 mph from a stop in about 4.2 seconds, which is just 0.2 tick shy of the Ford.
