Japanese have sent a strong message to North Korea by saying that they will shoot down the missile the communists are preparing for launch next month if the direction becomes a threat to Japanese borders.
Though Pyongyang insists that the trajectory of the missile will not impact neighbouring countries, defence analysts are already working on eventualities as they do not want to take any risks. The Japanese Security Council met on Tuesday to discuss the precautionary
measures.
Japanese minister of defence, Naoki Tanaka said that they have already sent Aegis radar-equipped destroyers to the Sea of Japan and East China Sea. Moreover, Japanese army has deployed ground-based interceptors in the Tokyo region and on the neighbouring
southern islands.
In their defence, Pyongyang insisted that the launch is only to send a weather satellite into orbit to mark the 100th anniversary of Kim Il-Sung, the founding father of North Korea and the grandfather of the current Supreme Leader of North Korea,
Kim Jong-un.
The project, regardless of its intentions, has prompted the United States to put their food aid plans for North Korea on hold. The initiative has also drawn a lot of criticism from China who are North Korea’s biggest allies.
