Jessie J: I do not want to do the X Factor
Monday, April 2nd, 2012 3:41:31 by Waqas TariqThe English singer claimed that she wants to continue doing ‘The Voice’ and admitted that she has no plans to switch to the rival show. Simon Cowell expressed his desire to see the singer on his show for the next season last week but Jessie has rejected the offer claiming that she does not want to do a show which relies on gimmicks.
Cowell is in search of his fourth judge on the UK version of the X Factor with doubts over the return of Kelly Rowland. It was reported that the TV mogul was impressed with Jessie J’s impact on ‘The Voice’ and wants him on the X Factor.
“It’s very nice of Simon to say nice things about me. But The Voice is the show I want to work on and I’m not going anywhere. It’s the show that represents everything I am about,” the singer was quoted as saying in an interview.
The ‘Price tag’ singer added that she has always admired shows like X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent but admitted that she is currently loving the experience of being on ‘The Voice’ and wants to stay.
“I’ve always supported X Factor and BGT. I’ve been on both and performed. But I love being part of The Voice and I genuinely want these people to come out of this show at the end and know that they’re equipped to tackle the music industry,” she continued.
Jessie also stressed that her show does not rely on gimmicks and is confident that the competition will surpass X Factor in the coming years.
“The Voice isn’t about gimmicks. X Factor relies on that and that’s their thing but it’s not our thing,” she concluded.
The Voice is currently being aired on BBC.
