Lennox Lewis confirms a rematch with Vitali Klitschko on September 29
Monday, April 2nd, 2012 11:37:28 by Imran Shaukat KhanFormer undisputed world heavyweight champion of the world, Lennox Lewis, has passed on a flattering statement in which he confirmed that he is to come out of retirement to fight Vitali Klitschko, the current WBC heavyweight champion, in a long awaited rematch.
Lewis spoke via Twitter to say: “Lennox returns to the ring for Sept. 29th mega fight with Klitschko.”
Lewis wrote, “I’ve enjoyed retirement but there is unfinished business at hand & 125 million reasons to finish. Sept. 29th LLVK2#done deal. Klitschko looking forward to Sept. 29th.”
The Lion, Lewis, fought Vitali back in 2003 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. It was a fight which only a few can forget, as Lewis won Vitali via a 6th round TKO but the British-Canadian pugilist didn’t offer Vitali a rematch, for which many out there still criticise him. However, now it looks as if people will get to see a fight, which might be one of the most eagerly awaited fights of all time.
Lewis, who held a record of winning 41 of his 44 professional fights (1 Draw), with 32 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, has said it on several occasions that he doesn’t see any excitement in these days in the heavyweight division and he blamed the Klitschko brothers for it.
Klitschko brothers currently rule the heavyweight division and there is no one out there to challenge them. Perhaps this is a reason why Lewis thinks he is the only competition for the 6 ft 7 in Ukrainian giant.
Lewis recently told SunSport on March 29: “People always ask if I’m tempted to go back in the ring and the answer is yeah, of course!
“When you see some of the fights out there, or a champion without a real test, I can’t help thinking that I’m still his only competition — but I’m retired.”
On speaking about Vitali, Lewis said: “Father Time is definitely knocking on his door.”
“I always tell people there’s a guy out there who can beat them — and they quickly cotton on that it’s me.
Well, all said and done, let’s see if this fight gets real because it will certainly be a ‘treat’ for the boxing fans.

Lewis stinks and a coward, this his april’s fools joke, just like his legacy !!!! Klitschko WON that fight.
Firstly im a british fight fan. Remembering LL v VK 1 , LL was out of shape, Flat footed and his timing was really bad. OK, he took the fight at short notice but will need to really put the hours in the Gym to produce a good performance in the rematch.
I think people would like to see this fight but i hope for LL sake he doesnt see it as just a bumper pay day and gives British fight fans something to be proud of.
