Ranvir Shorey: Even at 40, I am still a struggling actor
Monday, April 2nd, 2012 12:25:33 by Imran Shaukat KhanThe Indian actor and former VJ, Ranvir Shorey, who is known best for his work in the films like ‘Khosla Ka Ghosla’ and ‘Mithiya’, is in the Bollywood industry for the last 19 years almost but the actor has insisted that he is still looking for a chance to prove himself on the Silver screen.
The 39-year-old made his debut in 2002 with Shashilal K Nair’s romantic film ‘Ek Chhoti si Love Story’ and later on acted in acclaimed films like ‘Traffic Signal’ and ‘Bheja Fry’. He has acted in many more films afterwards but he has never played a lead role in any of the films and the actor says he took up small roles only to gain the attention of the filmmakers.
“Even at 40, I am still a struggling actor. In our industry star kids are given opportunities. There is no dearth of films for them. I have done films like “Ugly Aur Pagli” and “Mithya” for which I was appreciated. But here am I finding it difficult even to get my films released. I am not getting a chance to prove myself,” Shorey told PTI.
“Four to five of my films are yet to be released. It is not that I have not delivered. I have, but my films are not seeing the light of the day. I don’t even know why. It is very difficult for me. Even I have to pay my bills,” the actor said.
“The only reason I took up small roles in big banner films was in the hope to get the attention of other directors. I didn’t mind taking on small parts. I do not have any regret about it but I fail to understand that why am I not getting good roles,” he said.
Ranvir, who was last seen in ‘Aap Ke Liya Hum’ (2010), is currently participating in the forthcoming film ‘Winds of Change’, which will be released this year.
