Pearl Jam tour postponed due to Eddie Vedder’s nerve damage
Friday, April 6th, 2012 10:51:37 by Haris AnsariPearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder has been forced to postpone his 15-city solo tour of the U.S., which was slated to kick off on April 10, to the fall. Vedder is suffering from temporary nerve damage in his right arm, which is the result of a back injury he
sustained earlier this year.
While that might seem like bad news at first — and it is — the good news is that the damage is not permanent and Vedder has already rescheduled the make up dates. So there is a light at the end of the tunnel for both Vedder and for fans.
It also gives the rocker time to work on near PJ tunes, since the band has entered the studio.
Kelly Curtis, who manages Pearl Jam, posted a statement on the band’s official site, explaining why postponing the tour was the only option. Vedder had avoided canceling until the last minute since he hoped he could tour. What a dedicated rocker he is.
The statement from Curtis read as follows:
After having worked aggressively with doctors and physical therapists for the last eight weeks to repair the damage, the intensity of the injury and time needed to heal has made it impossible to play the shows as scheduled. There was hope up until the last
minute that the treatments would be successful. Sincerest apologies go out to those who have made plans and bought tickets. Eddie is frustrated beyond measure, but remains positive that come this summer all will be back in good form.
Previously purchased tickets will be honored at the new dates in November and December, although those fans requiring a refund will be granted one upon request at the point of purchase.
Hey, at least Vedder fans have something to look forward to when the cold months roll in!
