Final Fantasy 13’s gameplay starts off deceptively simple, but later becomes one of the most complex and challenging system that one has probably experienced. There are a number of gameplay elements involved here. Thankfully they introduce gradually, so you will not be overwhelmed. A good battle system is extremely crucial to the success of a role-playing game and fortunately final fantasy 13 delivers just that. You only control one character during the battle but you can switch up roles any time you want. There are a total of six roles. All of your abilities and the behaviour of your companions are determined by these roles. These roles are extremely vital and have a significant effect on the outcome of a battle. allocating the roles correctly and effectively will help the player to see a tough battle as a piece of cake, while the failure to effectively utilise the feature will tend to make even the most simplest of foes seem real deadly.
Initially the battle system of the current final fantasy may seem a little limiting compared to past battle systems, but eventually you start to experiment with different combinations of roles, staggering enemies, summoning old friends and, in a very cool addition, earn ratings for each battle. Each battle has a target time and if you manage to defeat your enemy before the target time runs out, you will end up with more score. The score not only affect the sort of spoils that you will get, but also helps you to build technical points. These technical points allow your character to perform powerful moves as well and perform summons.
As complicated as it is, one would like the battle system quite a bit. All of the different elements gel together nicely and striving to earn a high rating for every fight is quite a fantastic motivation. with that said, the player will probably find himself going through the same motions over and over again as the hours go by, but the difficulty spike a the game’s conclusion works well to shake things up. The extremely linearity of the Final Fantasy 13 has been a serious point of contention for long time followers of the series. Prospective buyers should know that the game does open up towards the finale, but only to a limited degree. The players are bound to enjoy the linear sections as well as the free-roaming locations, but it is safe to say that some fans will be disappointed by the game structure.
