In quite an odd move, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan flayed severe criticism on President Zardari for his visit to India in the wake of the tragedy afflicted on Pakistan army in Siachin.

While addressing a public gathering College Ground Abbottabad, he prayed for the safe recovery of soldiers buried under an avalanche in Siachen.

He observed, “The nation will not forgive leaders who have no respect for the nation and its institutions, and who do not know how to stand by the state in trying times”.

Imran Khan assured the public of his party’s devotion to prosperity, saying that the PTI would follow the Turkish model of development once it wins the upcoming general elections.

He criticized the West saying his party would part ways with the United States’ sponsored war against terrorism which was being fought for money. He claimed that they would liberate Pakistan from foreign influence and would restore the respect of the country around the world.

The cricket-turned politician said that the tribal people were brothers and that negotiations should be held to resolve issues rather than engaging in conflicts. He, however, did not explain any particular group among the tribal people.

He praised the youth for their support to his party saying the PTI would elect its leadership from common citizens instead of rewarding people with names and suffixes of feudal families.

Reiterating his support for the local government system, the PTI chief said his party is mulling to introduce a strong local bodies system to make powerful the people at the grass root level with efficient answerability.

Khan added, “The PTI would liberate the rural population from this unjust system and would introduce a local government system which would ensure autonomy at the level of villages”.

Commenting on the new provincial units, he observed the PTI was in favor of small administrative units as that was the need of the hour.

Citing examples of Turkey and Japan, Khan said that both the countries were considerably less populated than Pakistan, but had exponentially more federating units.
