Lodhi lambasts Iran’s pull-out
Tuesday, April 10th, 2012 4:17:21 by Shahrukh SohailThe PFF secretary claims that he will the Iranian’s actions to the AFC after they refused to travel to Pakistan due to a long wait for connecting flights.
With Islamabad hosting this year’s U-14 Festival, there were bound to be some teams which would refuse to travel here, because of security concerns.
While that claim is legitimate like others such as Uzbekistan’s financial issues and Kyrgyzstan’s refusal because of the players’ parents denying them permission.
However Iran refused because they claimed that they would have to wait for a connecting flight that would take them to Pakistan.
This response has angered the PFF and they are going to be taking the appropriate action according to secretary, Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi.
“Pakistan will not participate in any tournament in Iran. I’ve written a letter to the AFC and I’m expecting them to hand Iran a heavy penalty. We’ve always participated in tournaments in Iran.”
“Last year we waited for 12 hours in Abu Dhabi but we never complained because we wanted to stick to our promise. However, what Iran has done is very unprofessional. They’re sending two of their referees to attend the under-14 festival referee workshops
and not the team,” he vowed.
