U-14 Festival kicks off today
Wednesday, April 11th, 2012 3:35:02 by Shahrukh SohailThe AFC U-14 Football Festival starts today with only four teams taking part, due to pull-outs from high profile nations such as Iran and Uzbekistan.
Islamabad is hosting this year’s AFC U-14 Festival and with the all the side vents concluded, the anticipated football tournament commences.
With many questioning the city’s ability to host such an event, IFA President and Organizing committee Dr. Fazal Ur Rahman has reiterated that he and his team have what it takes to pull of such an occasion.
“Initially, seven teams including one from Pakistan had to compete in the AFC Football Fixture. However, four teams regretted to visit Pakistan including Iran, Turkmenistan, Kyrgazistan and Kazakhstan, “ he said.
“Now, four teams will be in action during the five days international event. Two teams from Pakistan and each one from Tajikistan and Afghanistan are in the tournament to show their mettle. How ever, we have assured fully security to all team during the
tournament and will also provide international standard facilities to players and officials as well.”
“AFC has already awarded next AFC Football Festival to Pakistan that will be held at same venue next year.”
“We will provide all the facilities to foreign team during the AFC Under-14 Football Festival according to international demands. We are working under the guideline of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF), “ the official was quoted as saying.
