Premier event held in Charleston, United States.

The former world number one, Williams, re-ignited her old form at this green clay court event reached the final showdown after crushing Safarova in 58 minutes to lift her fourth clay court title. As a result, the American extended her lead in the head-to-head
series by 5-0 against the Czech.

"I hope I can make it three and four and five and six and more and more and more," the American commented. "I definitely want to continue this. I’ve never played consistently at such a high level with low errors like this, and the scary thing is I could
have served so much better."

Williams blasted into the Family Circle Tennis Center and winded up the opening six games in a row through her immaculate display of power tennis. The American warded off all four breakpoints she came across and cashed in three out of four break opportunities
to pull out the opener with a bagel.

Currently ranked ninth in the WTA Premier Rankings, Williams carried her winning ways in the proceeding set and after earning the desiderated break in the second game, she jumped to a 3-0 lead. After Safarova held her serve to love in the fourth game, the
veteran unleashed her skills again and stroke out the next three games, ultimately sealing the set with a stunning 6-1 score line.

The 30-year-old is eyeing to carry her rhythm at the Mutua Madrilena Madrid Open. However, she has nothing to defend until the grass season in Eastbourne.
"I have nothing to defend. June – Wimbledon I didn’t do anything, Eastbourne I won one match, so that doesn’t count. I did pretty well in the summer, but then I dropped off again until this tournament. My next tournament is Madrid."

Williams claimed her 40th WTA career title at this event. By doing so, she became the third active player to reach this number. She will be bidding for her fifth title on dirt at the Madrid WTA event.
