Difa-e-Pakistan Council opposes resumption of NATO supply-line
Friday, April 13th, 2012 12:03:09 by Faisal FarooqLashing out at the government after the joint-sitting unanimously adopted redrafted recommendations of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS), annoying Maulana Samiul Haq opposed the resumption of NATO supply line.
Giving his reaction over the latest development, Chairman Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC) addressed a news conference observing, “You want to feed them so they grow stronger and attack us”.
In reference to the clause which allowed reopening of the NATO supply routes, he expressed his annoyance even though the said-sanction has not permitted transfer of weapons and arms for US troops through Pakistani territory.
Provincial Chief, Professor Ibrahim, the representatives of Jamaat-e-Islami’s was also present during the press briefing.
He said that the DPC remained opposed to the resumption of NATO supply-line, adding it will not be an easy decision for parliament to take. He observed, “It will be one of the most sensitive issues in the parliamentary history of Pakistan”.
The hard-line leader while commenting about the Difa-e-Pakistan rally which is scheduled to be held in Peshawar on Sunday April 15 said that the timing of the gathering was critical.
He added, “Peshawar’s rally was more important than those held in Karachi or Lahore because it was an area that was directly affected by the NATO supply routes”.
In his view, tomorrow the US may attack on Pakistani forces claiming their supply-line unsafe if today NATO supplies is restored and rations taken to Afghanistan.
He informed that an application filed against the Salala incident had not been taken seriously and it was said that since the petitioners were tribal origin, hence it is not come inside the court’s jurisdiction.
Later on, Professor Ibrahim of the Jamaat-e-Islamai said that the resumption of supply line to the allied forces battling in Afghanistan was not a legal in anyways. Its resumption after suspension, however, will be more disgraceful.
He commented that the DPC was not a political platform, adding the participant parties will be free to choose whatever path they might take in the elections.
