Gilani assures recommendations of PCNS will be adopted in letter and spirit

Prime Minister of Pakistan, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has assured that the government would implement the recommendations of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) in letter and spirit.

While addressing the joint sitting of Parliament on Thursday, the premier reiterated that in terms of engagement with United States, there will be no compromise on the sovereignty and integrity of the country.

“Pakistan will give serious second thought to its future terms of engagement with Nato, ISAF and the US and there will be no compromise on the sovereignty and integrity of the country,” said Gilani after Leader of Opposition, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan once again asked the government for guarantees.

Earlier, after the revised recommendations of PCNS were laid down before the Parliament, Chaudhry Nisar Khan said, “The people of Pakistan are badly hurt due to the present government’s poor credibility and its backing out of its promises time and again,” he said.

Gilani said that the adoption of the recommendations by the two houses has strengthened the hands of the government. He further added that it has conveyed a message of national unity and solidarity to the world.

The PM assured both the houses of parliament that the recommendations as adopted by PCNS would be the guiding agenda for the government. He further said that Pakistan is responsible nation and the government is aware of the self-respect and aspirations of the people.
