Lamont Peterson confident of winning Amir Khan in rematch
Friday, April 13th, 2012 12:02:51 by Imran Shaukat KhanThe current unified WBA (Super) and IBF Light Welterweight Champion, Lamont Peterson, is all set to face Amir Khan in a rematch, which will take place on May 19 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada and the American is confident of securing another win over the Brit.
The 28-year-old, who is more commonly known as Havoc, told the media that Khan always fights in a similar way and he just cannot change it.
The pugilist, who holds a record of winning 30 of his 32 professional fights (1 Draws), with 15 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, further added that he will not change his strategy at all for the rematch as he believes Khan won’t bring anything different in the ring.
“He’ll do what he always does, he always fights the same,” said Peterson.
“He’s either straight forward or straight back. That’s the way he fights, he’s not going to change it.
“I’ll be relaxed like I always am in the ring, but he’s putting a lot of pressure on himself, saying he won the last fight, saying he’s going to change this and that for the next fight.”
Khan and Peterson last fight, which took place on December 10 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington D.C unfortunately ended up in a storm of controversy.
The Bolton man, who is commonly known as King Khan, always claims that he was the winner on the night but Peterson thinks saying such things will not do any good to him.
“He’s still out there saying he’s the champ, but he’s not. He’s all over the place. Really, I don’t know what to make of him.
“If he fights on after he loses to me, he’s going to lose to average fighters, not just world champions. People need to see what you can do, not just hear what you can do.”
Well, all said and done, there is hardly a month left now before Khan and Peterson takes on each other and it is fair to say that their fight will certainly be an explosive one.
