Sending phone messages is good to fight depression – Entertainment News
Saturday, April 14th, 2012 7:37:29 by Irfan KhokharThis is true that most of us complain about the unwanted chain messages that we receive on daily basis but today we will try to explore if they serve any good purpose in our lives. So hang tight and keep on reading.
All the cellular companies, nowadays, have lucrative bundle SMS packages, which serve as a needless temptation for many to send jokes, Islamic quotes and various other types of messages to everyone on their contact lists. I personally know some people, who actually do this with a lot of attention and consider it as a duty. Be it early in the morning or very late in the night, the fingers of chain-texters never get tired….agree?
Nonetheless, speaking of these messages I cannot help leaking honesty that most of them fail to create a great impression but some of them successfully strike some attention, and sometime get a smile out of a person, who is caught up in boredom or depression. That is the main point in focus today….that sending or receiving phone messages can actually help us to treat depression and boredom.
The positive influence of the SMSs has also been proven by a Californian psychologist Adrian Aguilera, who claims that the 140-character messages can be quite useful for healing depression.
Aguilera is a clinical psychologist, who has treated many low-income patients of depression using this new mainstream approach. In his opinion, text messages can be used as a remedy for people with depression and anxiety. That was why some of his patients were sent out automated text messages tempting them to think and reply.
So next time you’re sitting bored stiff or staying cranky, get your phone handy and put your emotions in a text message. That will surely drift your attention and ease yourself. However, one thing that should always be on priority while sending a message is decency and certain degree of humour. That’s how you can help your mood and also cheer up someone else.
*p.s. [Be cautious, if the message is not very nice…refrain from sending it…save it as a draft and have good laugh reading it afterwards]
