Tour of Poland will serve as a best preparation for the 2012 Olympic Games

The Tour of Poland or The Tour of Pologne is all set to kick off on July 10th, 2012. A total number of 25 teams will participate at the race with 9 riders on each side.

The race normally consists of seven or eight stages and normally extends to a total distance of around 1,200 kilometres.

The 2012 version of the race will take the cyclists across a total distance of 1234.7 kilometres across the beautiful landscapes of Poland.

Race Director, Czeslaw Lang cited, “It all starts off from Karpacz, a historical town in the Tour de Pologne which is back after a few years off the schedule with an immediately gruelling stage on a route suited to climbers”.

“Since it will be held just a few days before the Olympics, the roads of Poland will become an essential passage for those riders who are strongly focused on the 2012 London games”.

“It is for this very reason that we have designed the 2012 Tour de Pologne trying to make the race even more spectacular, both for the public as well as the riders”.

Lang also noted that the Tour of Pologne will serve as an excellent warm up race for the biggest event of the season, the 2012 Olympic Games.

All the WorldTour teams have received an automatic qualification for the race along with six UCI Professional Continental sides.

Team Colnago-CSF Bardiani, Team Caja Rural, Team Type 1-Sanofi, Team Farnese Vini-Selle Italia, Team Argos-Shimano and Team Utensilnord Named are all eyeing podium at the Polish race.
