The Green-Shirts face a tough task in qualifying for the AFC U-22 Cup but should be relatively optimistic with a foreign coach and some foreign players in their ranks.
Furthermore, the PFF’s decision to send them to Thailand and later to Palestine for a friendly tournament could pay handsome dividends, as the facilities in Pakistan are not up to standard.
Coach Zavisa certainly believes in the prospect of training abroad and claimed that the excursion will provide his players with the chance of playing against some quality opposition and allow them to train in world-class facilities.
“The tour will provide the players a refreshing change. Thailand are a very good team and I’m glad that the players will get some much-needed exposure before the AFC qualifiers which is a huge event,” he said.
“But at the same time I want my team to win these matches. I’ve conducted a two-week camp in Lahore and I have confidence in my players that they’ll do well.”
“The reason why we chose to play with Thailand because they’re a better team than the ones in our group. I’m confident that we can beat Sri Lanka and Palestine but Saudi Arabia, Kyrgyzstan are the tricky ones,” the Serbian tactician was quoted as saying.
Pakistan start their qualification phase in June.
