Monday, April 16th, 2012 6:09:14 by Usman KhalidThe rumour mill is in full swing on the upcoming launch of new instalment to the iPhone line. As the latest version was called the iPhone 4S—launched in October 2011—the new iPhone is touted as iPhone 5; many experts address the upcoming device with the iPhone 5 moniker.
Since the release of the iPhone 4S and new iPad, referred to as iPad 3 though it’s not its formal name, the speculations to the release of the new iPhone has taken some updates into the fold.
Following are some of the anticipated upgrades to the 2012 version of Apple’s smartphone.
Design
The current design and aesthetics of the iPhone have been in the market for two years now, since the release of the iPhone 4 in the summers of 2010. Considering the pattern of smartphone’s releases and the changes in design, it is expected that the new smartphone will be released with an overhaul to the current dimensions and shape. According to experts from all over the world, a new shape to iPhone will be the major selling point of the device.
Topeka Capital Markets analyst Brian White added to the murmuring this morning, noting in a research piece that “the buzz around the new iPhone 5 is growing in Asia and speculation around the timing of the launch has begun.”
“In our view, this will be the most significant iPhone upgrade with a four-inch screen and a new, sleek look that we believe will require a Unibody case,” he added. “This new, sleek look will be the most important reason that consumers decide to upgrade to the iPhone 5, while we believe the addition of 4G will also attract buyers of the new device.”
