Saints F.C suffered two defeats in as many matches, as they were beaten 8-7 by their arch rivals, Golden Dust F.C on Sunday.
Saints coach Ahmad Mehdi was serving a touchline ban due to his off-field activities and his assistant took full advantage of the situation by boasting his own tactics, naming a really strong squad by recalling old players out of their retirements, the likes
of Yassir Iqbal and Abdur Rehman.
Saints got off to an excellent start, going 3-0 up in ten minutes. Saad Ashraf scored twice in 3 minutes and Abdur Rehman also scored on his return to swing the pendulum in the people’s club’s favour.
The goal-scoring machine, Saad Sahibzada, dedicated his goals to his elder brother, Usman Sahibzada, who started the game from the bench and watched his brother score a brace early in the game.
Usman Sahibzada, also the founding member of the club, made a long awaited appearance and did justice to the saying “form is temporary, but class is permanent”.
Dustians fought their way back into the match as they levelled things up at 3-3, but Yassir Iqbal’s phenomenal free-kick restored the advantage for Saints F.C.
Saints then lost their hold on the encounter as they let in some cheap goals and Golden Dust F.C ran out 8-7 winners.
Salman Zaka showed great class throughout the match and is a notable mention, proving to be a brick wall at the heart of the defence.
Saints F.C.’s administration and fans were really happy at the performance whatsoever and the chairman Saad Ashraf expects a big rise in the tickets sale following the return of former players Yassir and Abdur Rehman.
Saints F.C. and Golden Dust F.C. will be playing out a friendly game on Monday, in order to keep their squad fit and ready for the upcoming difficult weekend fixtures.
