How, why and when should the corporate sector embrace tablet culture? – Part 1

Tablets might be the future of enterprise computing, as many tip it to be the next terminal at every employee’s work station. However, that comes not without its pros and cons. Though the tablet culture is occupied by heavy opprobrium and controversial aesthetics, but the benefits it brings, not to mention financial leverage to the employers, the experts tip off their hats to the flaunting productivity of the devices.

When Steve Jobs first waved the iPad on stage in 2010, the same technology gurus had criticized the very existence of the device. It was portrayed as a luxury item that only the elite could use whilst Transamerica or transatlantic travels. However, the very nature of the device revealed its vitals to the public as being the best alternative to laptops that now look a thing of the last decade.

First considered as a large iPod with a bigger processor, now the iPad is being considered by corporate entities as being the next cheap alternative to terminals—even remote and portable—for their employees.

However, iPads are not the only option left for the employers as Google has protruded into the tablet business with a slew of Android tablets from the likes of Sony, Asus, Acer, HTC and Samsung. These tablets sport powerful processors to subdue the performance of iPad on many fronts.

Therefore it can be safely said that tablets are in the market to stay for good. However, all of the above does not come with its downfalls.

The following part of the article will be focusing on the pros and cons of the tablets in regards to the enterprise culture.
