Amir Khan: Lamont Peterson can’t hurt me
Thursday, April 19th, 2012 2:29:22 by Imran Shaukat KhanFormer WBA (Super) & IBF Light Welterweight Champion, Amir Khan, will lock horns with the current titlist Lamont Peterson in their much-anticipated rematch, which will take place on May 19 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and Khan believes it is going to his night this time.
The 25-year-old, who holds a record of winning 26 of his 28 professional fights, with 18 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, recently had an exclusive interview with Fighthype in which discussed many things about his previous fight and upcoming rematch.
The Bolton’s finest, who is also known as King Khan, fought Peterson on December 10 last year, in a fight which ended up in a storm of controversy.
Khan insisted that he knocked Peterson down two times in the first round apart from hurting him in the 9th round but Peterson was never able to hurt him in the fight.
The Brit has claimed that he knows Peterson can’t hurt him and he will take full advantage of it.
Khan told Fighthype, “He was throwing a lot of shots. When he did catch me on the ropes and stuff, I knew exactly where I was and I saw everything coming.
The thing is, I know now he can’t hurt me.”
Khan added, “I mean, in the first round, we put him down twice, and then in the 9th I think it was, we hurt him again, so I know if we develop and we sit down on our shots a little bit more, we can hurt this guy and maybe knock him out.
He concluded, “You know, we could’ve finished him off, but I think I took my foot off the pedal to be honest with you. I did take the foot off the pedal and I think I kind of let him back in the game.”
Well, all said and done, Khan entered the ring as a red-hot favorite last time but Peterson pulled off a shocking win over him. So let’s see if Khan regains his glory by avenging his defeat this time.
