Asian cuemen all set to take part in 2012 Asian Snooker Championship
Thursday, April 19th, 2012 5:49:30 by Zeeshan GoharPotters from all around Asia will be battling for the ultimate glory in the 2012 International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) Asian Snooker Championship at Doha, Qatar.
The tournament will feature 40 cuemen from Asian countries who will play in the event. The competition was organised by the Qatar Snooker and Billiard Federation.
The atmosphere in the event will be thrilling as top guns of snooker are making an appearance. The defending champion, Thailand’s Passakorn Suwannawat is all set to retain his title he clinched last year after beating the Indian cueman, Aditya Mehta at Indore, India.
The Thai potter is confident of defending his title and is ready to take on any challenger in the line up. He has practising a lot for the goal. However, this year the competition will not be so easy for him as the line up is full of outstanding potters.
On the other hand, Mehta’s aim is to get back into his tremendous form and snatch the title this year. Last year he was very disappointed with his form in the event because he was not able to win the title. Nevertheless, this time he will be entering the arena with only one ambition.
Mehta has just returned from Sheffield, England where he took part in the qualifying session of the 2012 World Snooker Championship. He was not able to make an appearance there at the World Snooker Academy but is hopeful to play better at Doha.
Mehta is the only Indian who has won a match at the World Snooker Championships, in a decade. The winner of the 2012 Asian Snooker Championship will automatically qualify for the Professional Snooker Tour for 2012-13 season.
