Veena Malik to be in the south remake of ‘The Dirty Picture’

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan is on cloud nine these days as her fortunes changed last year with the stupendous success of Milan Luthria’s ‘The Dirty Picture’. However, this time following her footsteps is none other than the controversial queen of Pakistan, Veena Malik.

Yes, it’s true a south remake of ‘The Dirty Picture’ is being made and the producer Venkatappa has signed Veena Malik for it. This film, which has been titled as ‘Dirty Picture: Silk Sakkath Maga’, will also be based on the life of late sex siren Silk Smitha but it will not be a copy of Ekta Kapoor’s film.

Veena Malik, who rose to fame during her stint in the Bigg Boss house, was contacted in order to confirm the news.

“Yes, I am doing a Kannada film based on the life of Silk Smitha. I am not aware of any other actor having been approached for the project. I will join the sets on May 12. I always wanted to have a career in the south too, and now it has happened, “she said.

‘The Dirty Picture’ became a huge hit because in the film Vidya Balan showed everyone how good she can be at her erotic best.

The south remake ‘Dirty Picture: Silk Sakkath Maga’ is also being made on high glamour because the producer has claimed that the actress like Nikitha Thukral, Charmme and Pooja Gandhi re refused to him fearing the film’s boldness.

“But they all refused fearing that the film would be too bold,” he said.

Venkatappa revealed the fact that Veena was contacted only because he didn’t have any other options left.

“When we spoke to her, even before discussing her remuneration, Veena asked for the script. After reading it, she claimed that she was moved by the climax and immediately agreed to do the film,” said Venkatappa.

Well, all said and done, to overshadow Balan’s performance looks something a bit difficult for Veena Malik still let’s see if she provides a ‘treat’ to the audiences.
