DG CAA Nadeem Yousafzai rejects possibility of technical faults
Saturday, April 21st, 2012 8:08:09 by Faisal FarooqDirector General Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Captain Nadeem Yousafzai has said that neither there was any technical fault in the Bhoja Airline plane that crashed Friday near Rawalpindi nor the weather warning was too much high to raise the aerial limits.
While addressing a news conference on Saturday, he said the last contact was made between airplane and Control Tower at 6:40 pm and the accident took place form the six kilometers away from the runway. The debris of aircraft was spread in the radius of almost four kilometers.
He said that aircraft crash was the big tragedy of the history. He said that before investigations, speculations should be stopped in this regard. “Soon after the incident, Minister of Defence and Defence Secretary were informed”, he said.
He said that flight was according to the standards of operational procedure and there was not any technical fault in the plane. He told the journalists that 127 people including five crewmembers were expired in the plane crash.
“Bhoja Airlines has been asked to complete the procedure in accordance with the law and dead bodies might be sent free of cost at their native towns”, Captain Yousafzai added.
He said that the each plane and pilot has its own capacity. Many matters would be unveiled in the probe. The investigations have many phases. He said that there was weather warning of low level in Islamabad on Friday evening, but it was not so much high that could prevent flight operations.
He said that the probe of the air crash would be held at international level. A high level committee has been constituted by Ministry of Defence.
The DG CAA declined the rumor that license was given to Bhoja Airlines on political pressure. Civil Aviation Authority had not any kind of pressure. No compromise could be made on the safety issues.
Bhoja Airlines fulfilled all the legal requirements and cleared all its due. CAA’s experts inspected its fleet thoroughly, and then Bhoja Airlines was granted permission.
He said that the decoding of black box could take a month or so as it would be conducted abroad. He said that some 115 bodies have been identified.
