Monday, April 23rd, 2012 12:36:10 by Imran Shaukat KhanVivek Agnihotri’s erotic thriller ‘Hate Story’, which has been produced by Vikram Bhatt, had a lot of hype ahead of the release but the film has not been able to impress much, when it comes to the critics.
‘Hate Story’ featured the Indian Bengali beauty Paoli Dam as the female lead and along with her Gulshan Devaiya, Bhairavi Goswami and Nikhil Dwivedi also played key roles.
The reviewers feel that the film has only focused on the main characters and its script is very predictable. Moreover, they feel the film is paced narration with no high points in it.
Overall ‘Hate Story’ has been able to get 2.5 out of 5 ratings. A few comments from the film critics’ are mentioned below.
NDTV – AINS Rating: 3.5
Hate Story pushes the envelope so hard, all the contents spill out in a torrential tumble of tantalising power-play set within the world of corporate battles and gender conflicts.
Bollywood Hungama – Taran Adarsh’s Rating: 3
Hate Story banks on the age-old vendetta theme, but what takes it beyond the mediocre mark is the cat and mouse game played by the protagonist and antagonist, besides, of course, the bold and provocative scenes that add spice to the proceedings. Though engaging in parts, there’s no denying that the second hour seizes your attention, making it a watchable experience.
Oneindia Rating: 2.5
Though engaging in parts, there’s no denying that the second hour seizes your attention, making it a watchable experience.
Well, all said and done, hate stories are as common to Bollywood as love stories but normally we see a male as a revenge-seeking protagonist. Nevertheless, ‘Hate Story’ has featured a female character as a revenge-seeker as a result to which it contain many bold scenes in it.
The movie is still running in the cinemas and how much it collects at the box office is still to be seen.
