Samsung Rumours: The Koreans to launch Galaxy SIII and S-Cloud in May – Part 2

Our best guess is that Samsung is putting into action some elaborate advertising scheme for the coming announcement.

In other news, Samsung is planning to launch its own clouding service this year and a source has stated that the service will be announced at the May 3 event. The company has been lagging behind in the clouding service while its competitors, Apple and Microsoft, have launched theirs almost a year ago.

The source further revealed that the service will be named S-Cloud, which is close to the name of Apple’s clouding servicethe iCloud. This might spring a lot of opprobrium toward the Korean company which might also result in lawsuits. However, the company has decided to stick to the aforementioned name.

Furthermore, the source revealed that the company will offer more than 5GB, with Microsoft handling the server-side of the operations. We’ll find if any of this is true on May 3, when Samsung will unveil its latest flagship Android smartphone.

The service will seamlessly synchronize all the pictures, videos and music in the cloud. It is expected work on the lines of Dropbox and Google’s upcoming Google Drive with a host movies, TV shows and music available on the platform. Free and paid content will also be available to various Samsung products such as laptops and tablets.

In other news, the company released an update on the GSM-based Galaxy Nexus. The update maintains the version number 4.0.4 but updates the build serial number from IMM76D to IMM76I. The update does not show any log of changes it has made to the operating system. However, experts have gleaned through the software and the changes it makes are remedy to sudden signal loss on the phone, even though present in an area with strong signals on other phones. The signal problem came with the original update called 4.0.4.

However, Google’s developer site still shows the serial built number on the new update as IMM76D as the latest version available.
