T-Mobile to have its own Galaxy Note in the US

Samsung has bought the bragging rights to market the Galaxy Note as the first amalgamation of tablet and phone, usually referred to as Phablet. However, in the US only AT&T has the rights to sell the big and amazing handset. In the recent developments, T-Mobile is also planning to release its own version of Galaxy Note in the coming weeks.

The T-Mobile Galaxy Note has been issued the code name T879, which is a far cry from SGH-i717 used by AT&T in the US. However, the following excerpt from a source reveals that T879 might hold some credibility to it.

“…the leaked ICS build for the AT&T Galaxy Note has the build number IML74K.144, indicating the build date and it is the 144th custom build. The SGH-T879 has the same build number because it was built from the same sources at the same time, meaning that it is indeed a brother to the AT&T Galaxy Note. The build servers and time stamp match up with Samsung’s official build information. We know that this build is intended to be an official build because the build number is suffixed with the baseband version instead of a decimal number indicating a custom build that voids the warranty,” the source said.

That said, it is only a speculation that Galaxy Note will be onboard the T-Mobile ship in the coming days but one thing is obvious that the US cell phone carrier is turning every corner to land the ‘phablet’ on T-Mobile shores. The success of the smartphone despite its huge size to handle, has moved a number of carriers around the world to include it to their portfolio.
