‘Jannat 2’ director don’t want to be in the same situation as ‘The Dirty Picture’
Wednesday, April 25th, 2012 10:28:51 by Imran Shaukat Khan‘Jannat 2’, which will feature Emraan Hashmi, Esha Gupta and Randeep Hooda in the lead roles, is an ‘A certificate’ movie. However, the director of the much-anticipated film, Kunal Deshmukh, has played it pretty smart, as he already knew that some cuts would be required in order to telecast the film on the small screen.
Vidya Balan starrer ‘The Dirty Picture’, directed by Milan Luthria, was schedule for the telecast on Sony TV at noon and 8pm on Sunday but the ministry instructed the channel not to broadcast the film before 11pm.
The original A-rated film ‘The Dirty Picture’ underwent almost 59 cuts but still it was not given with a U/A certificate and Deshmukh doesn’t want be in this situation. Perhaps this is a reason why he already has made the necessary arrangements.
Deshmukh revealed to the media that he had to re-shoot every love-making scene in the film because he knew the ministry will never allow them on the small screen.
“We do know there are some guidelines. Whether good or bad, we have to follow them. Weather good or bad, we have to follow them. While shooting, we did take alternate takes for certain scenes like lovemaking and liplocks which I knew might get cut. I had to re-shoot the song so that you can still follow the story,” Deshmukh told IANS.
“What you will see of Jannat 2 on TV will be almost uncut, but a different cut. I would not want my movies to be murdered with 59 cuts. I don’t want to be in the same situation as The Dirty Picture, “he added.
“We were prepared for it and I dubbed my film for satellite. We took alternative dubs for language, which I knew will not be allowed on TV,” he said.
‘Jannat 2’ will hit the cinemas on May 4.
