Apple exceeds expectations

Apple, the manufacturer of the iPhone, iPad and Mac, recorded a net profit of 11,600 million at the start of 2012, after reporting an income of 39,200 million Euros. The recent figures have pulled the technology
giants up on the deck after having minimal stats on NASDAQ stock market two weeks ago.

Comparing these figures with a year ago, they recorded 94% increase in their second fiscal quarter. The profit margin rose six percentage points to 47.4% for products sold 35.1 million units of its
interactive telephone (88%), 11.8 million electronic tablets (151%) and four million computers (7%). However,
the iPod continues to decline, with 7.7 units sold.

The end of subsidies from operators and two-year contracts allows users to keep their phones longer. This resulted in a 43% drop in sales of the iPhone in the case of AT & T and Verizon 25%. The
two companies admit being too dependent on Apple but it is expected to be seen whether this trend is reflected in non-US operators.

In the search for reasons to try Apple is compounded by the fact that there are investors who take advantage of the strong rebound in the stock over the past three months to raise cash amid much volatility. And
besides, is not expected to launch new products in the coming months, beyond updating referred to in Mac laptops.

The Cupertino company, whose figures are going fine after losing out on Steve Jobs half a year ago , has set the bar high surpassing the expectations of investors quarter after quarter. They have failed
to meet their target on one occasion in the last five years.

The foundations of Apple essentially unchanged after Steve Job’s departure. However, the challenge is also in the long run, when the cycle runs out of products developed under the leadership of Jobs.

Meanwhile, the mobile operating system Android from Google continues to expand its market share and Microsoft tries to give the punch with their new Windows Mobile phones.
