Cabinet members to escort the PM to SC: Contempt of Court verdict

Islamabad: (Wednesday, April 25, 2012) Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani confirmed today that he will appear before the seven member bench of the Supreme Court hearing the contempt of court petition tomorrow.

Addressing members of the parliament in a weekly meeting at the PM secretariat, Gilani said, “I will appear before the Supreme Court tomorrow.”

The prime minister further said that he always honoured the court’s decisions and fully respected its verdicts. He also said that if any of the cabinet members wished to accompany him, he was welcome.

Interior Minister Rahman Malik said that the entire cabinet will accompany Gilani when he will appear before the apex court.

Charged with a contempt of court case, this is the third time when Prime Minister Gilani will appear before the Supreme Court’s bench headed by Justice Nasirul Mulk.

The court is expected to either slap Gilani with contempt or exonerate him of all charges.
