Mahesh Bhatt doesn’t want to lean on Emraan Hashmi
Wednesday, April 25th, 2012 11:51:52 by Imran Shaukat KhanMahesh Bhatt was the one who introduced Emraan Hashmi to the Bollywood industry with his film ‘Footpath’, which was released back in 2003 but now it feels that Emraan has become a big star and he does not need to lean on his back anymore.
Bhatts have always stressed that there is a lot unexplored talent in India and they are looking for it. Perhaps this is a reason why they don’t want Emraan Hashmi now.
“Emraan, post Murder 2 and Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, has had phenomenal success. Today, he is a major star. Having created a monster, we will not let this monster devour us. Otherwise, what is the point of saying that we will not work with stars?” said Bhatt.
In ‘Footpath’ Emraan played a supporting role alongside actors Bipasha Basu and Aftab Shivdasani but playing a lead role in the 2004 film ‘Murder’, which was also directed by Mahesh Bhatt, brought him real fame. Later on the actor continued to work with the Bhatt camp and the films like ‘Gangster’ (2006), ‘Jannat’ (2008), ‘Tum Mile (2009) and ‘Murder 2’ (2011) made him a bankable star in the Indian film industry.
Bhatt now feels he should move in order to find some new talent.
He added, “Emraan has other people to work with, which will make him richer. He is our flesh but he does not have to work with us always. That is why Kunal Khemu is one of the actors in whom we will invest. Even Randeep Hooda is a great actor. His potential has not been exploited properly and there are many more like him. We will not lean on Emraan only. We will move away from the safety of being with him.”
Well, all said and done, some of the big names in the Bollywood industry today have certainly come from Bhatt’s camp but let’s see if Kunal Khemu and Randeep Hooda will also take the benefit of working with him or not.
