Karin Prinsloo and Chad Guy Bertrand Le Clos captured gold medals of the Women’s 200m backstroke and Men’s 100m butterfly on concluding day of the 2012 South African Long Course Nationals in Durban.
The 22-year-old Prinsloo showered her expertise in the four-lap event, where she went on a rampage and secured her top finish by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 10.76 seconds. Her immaculate effort remained almost six seconds ahead of Ashley-Cooper, who
claimed silver medal of the discipline by touching the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 16.53 seconds.
The third position of the discipline was secured by Na Van Niekerk, who remained marginally slower from her former finisher and hit the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 16.97 seconds.
Fourth spot of the discipline was secured by Janneke Malan, who remained 0.07 seconds slower from the bronze medallist and touched the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 17.04 seconds.
Malan was trailed by Rene D Warnes, who proved his mettle for fifth position of the discipline by producing a time of 2 minutes and 17.04 seconds.
On the other hand, Le Clos seized the title of Men’s 100m butterfly by submitting a phenomenal time of 52.45 seconds.
His title claiming effort remained almost 1.50 seconds faster from his foregoing finisher, Dylan Bosch, who transpired on the finishing end as silver medallist by touching the wall with the timing of 53.89 seconds.
The third spot of the event was secured by Neil C Watson, who stayed nearly half body length behind Bosch and tapped the wall for bronze medal by producing a time of 54.43 seconds.
Watson was chased by Heinrich Alberts, who occupied fourth position of the discipline by posting a time of 54.66 seconds. Alberts remained marginally faster from Nico Meyer, who secured fifth position of the discipline by posting 54.76 seconds.
Furthermore, the championship concluded after the completion of all planned events whereas the position holders were awarded medal for their commendable efforts after the session.
